Manufacturing Ministry, in collaboration with DRDO and IIT-Kanpur, has opened India’s first industrial testing facility for permanent-magnet electric motors with coastal weather-grade salt resistance. Designed for EVs, marine systems, and solar pumps, the lab features wind and corrosion simulation chambers. Manufacturers can now validate product tolerance to humid-saline environments, reducing import dependence. Five firms have begun certification under Make-in-India subsidy support, marking an important step for homegrown EV component quality.
